This site is dedicated the finest motor race in the world, "24 Heures Du Mans" as our foreign chums are prone to calling it.

Only months, and days left until the start of LM 2009

We've been going to Le Mans since the early 1990s.
What follows are some of our experiences of the Le Mans 24 Hours Race.

Sniffer's only gone and done a blog.  If you want to see the latest updates of this years pilgrimage Sniffer's blog is the pace to go...

09/02/09

Yearly summaries have been updated

Photos have been updated, I'm trying to figure out how best to deal with movies...

Note to anyone else who tinkers with websites once in a while:  simple wysiwyg editors are increasingly difficult to find.  In summary;

Seamonkey, it's great at breaking any formatting you
had, particularly great at smashing tables in an unrecoverable type of way.
Visual Web Developer,
it's great at tying up every resource on what you thought was a decent spec machine.  Should more accurately have the words "(Not Responding)" after its name.  Its also a specialist at "correcting" any selections you make, if you try to select a line or a word it immediately corrects you and selects the entire document - this isn't annoying at all if you're just trying to format a sentence or two.

F.F.S. Can't I just have Netscape Navigator 3 functionality back, it used to do what it was told.

Finally the website is back.  The buffoons I register this domain with took my money without renewing the domain and after months or wrangling it finally appears to be sorted out.

UPDATE: Our Mission Statement has now been modified to reflect our true Le Mans aspirations, along with this years round of nicknames!

15/05/07

UPDATE: We now appear to be properly visible on t'internet, you can get us with lm24.co.uk, www.lm24.co.uk and if you Google "lm24" we're even on there.

I'm in the process of moving the gallery to Shutterfly so anyone can post pictures, until such time as it's abused anyway.

The page counter has been removed, the provider no longer provides them.

SATNAV/SPEED CAMERA ALERT: Over to Sydney our resident meat-glove expert;

"I understand that the police on the other side of the channel are slowly catching onto the revenue that is generated in UK PLC from its motorists, and are consequently waging a war on speed in the name of safety

So if we want to use Le Sat Nav - I've been advised to print this off and carry it with us, which explains that it's a passive device not a radar type device as these are illegal."

It's over and beyond schoolboy French, but it is intended for Inspector Clouseau, not us.

I also understand that speed cameras are being added at an alarming rate to catch Billy Briton as he speeds through the dog shite areas of northern France."

NEWSFLASH: It has been pointed out to me that www.lm24.co.uk does not point to us here, only lm24.co.uk does.   However, if you hadn't already typed lm24.co.uk (without the www.) then you wouldn't be here anyway so you couldn't read this!  Apparently the zone file needs updating, if any experts out there can offer a solution for us please don't hesitate to contact us, via the message board would be good.

In short, either type lm24.co.uk into your browser without the www. at the start, or just bookmark us now you're here!

Post race blues set in as we all return to work after what was for us, the best Le Mans ever.

The weather was fine, not overly scorchio and rain free.  We had cold beers all weekend and fully utilized the cooling powers of frozen peas from Le Mans supermarkets.  Sniffer and Mrs Sniffer's culinary skills were massively appreciated as the quality and quantity of food was taken to an all new high.  Much to the mirth of the Cavaliers, the Roundheads lost their stomach contents several times over the course of the weekend!  Most importantly the LM24.co.uk crew barely stopped laughing from Wednesday till Monday :)

< mental note to self YOU CAN'T USE FLASHFXP WITH Pipex!!!! >

20/04/06

I guess it's time for an update.  Not really got much to add as it's still so early in the year.  The more observant of you will notice the T.R.U.N.C. stuff has finally gone.  It made the title look massive and unwieldy.

Once again, I'm messing around with a new version of the website, but I suspect it'll never get uploaded.

This years race will start at 1700hrs so it doesn't clash with the World Cup, but other than that everything seems about on-track.

13/06/05

Updated the site, added the "Yearly Summary", compiled by Gooders - goodness only knows how he remembers all that stuff.  More additions are sure to follow, I can't believe how much stuff I've forgotten!  Drinking pretty much non-stop for the best part of 4 days during the event probably doesn't help things.

Updated the Roll of Honour to include the Scores on the Doors.

If you're planning on driving in France (as we are) check out this web page;

http://www.day-tripper.net/drive-infrance.html

It's all a bit scary, 1000+ euros on the spot speeding fines, vehicle impounding, licence confiscation, instant 3 day driving bans,...

Updated Roll of Honour for 2005.

Work continues on the new colour scheme and graphics for the new themed site to match our jazzy new t-shirts.  As a rule, we fear change, but the new t-shirts should be a winner!

Mission statement updated

19/05/05

Gooders wasn't the only one having a slow day yesterday...

Click here and let me know what you think, should I make it live?

Looks a little gaudy to me, but it would go nicely with our new t-shirts.

18/05/05

Mission statement added (Gooders, you need more work to keep you occupied!)

We - as "the Real Up North Crew" - have now got 53 Le Mans experiences under our belt, can you top that?

Team t-shirts, a thorny topic if ever there was one.  What colour scheme/logo/style do we want?

For what it's worth here's my two penneth...

Logos;

The following are in tribute to our favourite brands, it's the most sincere form of flattery don't you know.

All of the logos have been made the same width so you can see how they'd look as a badge.

Logo 1 (Stella)

This one has served us well for a number of years now.

Logo 2 (Gulf)

A new one, chucked in after last years suggestion of a baby blue t-shirt.

Logo 3 (Aston)

The  current LM24 official logo.

What's going on?!  I've got update crazy!

I've created a new message forum so feel free to post any suggestions, improvements you'd like to see, etc. or simply post some good old fashioned abuse.

13/04/05

Nothing at all to do with Le Mans.  Are you better than me at "spot the difference" competitions, I suspect you are...

Someone sent me this link, you've got to spot the difference between the two pictures in under a minute (before the answer is revealed).  I've not heard of anyone getting it within the time limit, yet it's so obvious when it's revealed.

Feel free to let me know via the guestbook.

Looks like our message board has died.  I'll fix up another one if there's any interest.

Moved the fancy new poll to the top right of the page, these pages are now best viewed at 1024*768.

< Poll moved to top right of page >

I've just seen the car I'm supporting this year, and she's a beauty!

14/03/05

Time for an update, I've added a guestbook (bottom left).

Tweaked some other bits of the site (including the countdown timer!) with the intention of more updates to follow in the very near future...

The message board is Donald Ducked at the moment, not too sure what's going on there...

13/07/04
I've finally moved (house, ISP, etc.), phew.  As a result this page was down for a bit, it should now be back for good (pending future ISP changes).

18/02/04
Pictures updated - woohoo!

Corrected the countdown timer.

My home went on the market yesterday, anyone want a flat in Newcastle city centre?!

email address aliases added for everyone

17/02/04

Some very slight modifications, I like to do something to the site at least once a year whether it needs it or not.

JOEY, cough up, you tight arse!

Pictures to be updated... honest.

A month to go - can you believe it has come around so quickly?

Updated the roll of honour, welcome to the newest name on the list "Birthday Boy".

Check out the links page for websites featuring all the latest news on the race gossip, changes, times, etc.

25/03/02

Update your bookmarks!!!  I've registered www.lm24.co.uk as the new domain name for the site, to save wear and tear on your fingers and keyboards (it will take a day or two to be propagated around the web).

I've also become an "Ask Jeeves" affiliate.  If you find anything on the site useful please feel free to ask Jeeves a question (not a million, or they'll think I'm trying to rob them!).  Each question you ask you help fund this site.
